Project Roles vs Team Tags
Project Roles determine what a member can do within a project. They control the member's level of access and permissions.
Team Tags identify the team, trade, company, or workflow group a member belongs to. They are not permissions, but they can be used to organize members and may affect access to certain project workflows, such as forms and submissions.
Tip: Use Project Roles to manage what a member can do, and Team Tags to identify which team or workflow group they belong to.
Assign access from a project
You can update a member's Project Role and Team Tags directly from the project.
- Open the Project.
- Open the project member list.
- Select the member you want to update.
- Select or update their Project Role.
- Add or update their Team Tags.
- Save your changes.

Assign access from Members
You can also manage project access from the Members section.
- Go to Members.
- Select the member you want to update.
- View their Joined Projects.
- Select the project you want to manage.
- Update the member's Project Role and Team Tags.
- Save your changes.

When to Update Roles and Team Tags
Review a member's project access whenever their responsibilities or team assignment changes.
You may need to update their Project Role or Team Tags when they:
- Take on a new responsibility within the project
- Move to a different team, trade, or workflow group
- Need access to a specific project workflow
- Should no longer manage or access certain project records
Keeping Project Roles and Team Tags up to date helps ensure that members have the appropriate access and are assigned to the right workflows.
