2. How Equipment Works in GoBuid

In this article

What is Equipment in GoBuid?

Equipment in GoBuid helps teams track equipment usage, location, and project activity. By attaching a QR code to each piece of equipment, workers can scan it with the GoBuid mobile app to locate, check in, or check out equipment on site.

Who usually uses Equipment?

Equipment is usually managed by managers, equipment managers, or site supervisors.

Workers may use the mobile app to:

  • scan equipment QR codes
  • update equipment location
  • check equipment in
  • check equipment out
  • select the project where the equipment is being used

What can managers do?

Managers can:

  • create equipment records
  • print equipment QR codes
  • attach QR codes to equipment
  • review equipment location records
  • view equipment usage history
  • check which project the equipment was used in
  • see who used the equipment

[Access is required to create and manage equipment.]

How equipment QR codes work

After equipment is created in GoBuid, print out its equipment QR code and attach it to the equipment.

This QR code lets workers quickly identify the equipment from the mobile app. Once scanned, they can choose what action they want to record.

How scan actions work

Workers can log in to the GoBuid mobile app and scan the equipment QR code.

After scanning, they can choose one of these actions:

  • Locate, to record the equipment location
  • Check in, to start using the equipment
  • Check out, to stop using the equipment

If the worker checks equipment in or out, they select the project where the equipment is being used.

Where records appear

Equipment records appear in:

  • Track map, where teams can see equipment location records
  • Equipment history, where teams can review past equipment activity
  • The chosen project, when the equipment is checked in or checked out for project use

This helps teams understand where equipment is located, which project it was used in, and who used it.
